About me

Hello, great to meet you!

My name is Yaron Chen, founder and owner of Ad’rabaLab. The name "Ad’raba" originates from an ancient Aramaic term meaning “toward something greater.”  This principle guides both my personal and professional journey — to think differently, challenge the status quo, and strive to realize the highest potential in every idea or product.

My Career Path – Over 30 Years of Experience

I began my professional journey as a technical commander in the Israeli Intelligence Corps, in a critical role responsible for systems operating 24/7. This laid the foundation for my expertise in electronics, communications, RF, and complex computing systems — but just as importantly, it shaped my approach: never give up, stay attentive, and find solutions even when the path seems blocked.

After completing my military service and academic studies, I held development and management roles at leading communications companies such as RAD and RADWIN, specializing in embedded systems and communication technologies. Later, as a senior director at Comverse, I led large server-side development teams and managed global projects.

I then transitioned into the medical device sector, leading product and development teams at companies like LabOS, G-Medical, Motorika, and Align, where we developed cloud services and medical devices under FDA and MDR regulations. I also managed development teams at top cybersecurity firms such as SkyBox Security and Proofpoint, working on advanced cloud security solutions in Docker and Kubernetes environments.

In parallel, I trained professionals in communication and cybersecurity as part of my reserve service in the Intelligence Corps — for over 20 years.

Academic Background

  • B.Sc in Math and Computer Science – Ben-Gurion University of the Negev
  • MBA in Marketing Management – University of Derby

Ad’rabaLab – The Journey Toward Something Greater

In the past year, I launched Ad’rabaLab with a clear vision: to support companies and entrepreneurs on their journey toward something greater.

I assist in defining, developing, and refining products based on market needs and customer goals. I support existing product and development teams, and in some cases, I build these functions from the ground up — including product definition, writing user stories, coding, DevOps, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity. When needed, I also help recruit the talent that will carry the product forward within the company.

Through Ad’rabaLab, I get to explore complex technologies, guide teams, influence products and people, and be part of continuous innovation. As someone who comes from outside the organization — with broad knowledge, curiosity, and a fresh perspective — I proudly say: Ad’raba!  That’s what gets me up every morning with a smile and motivation.

Product Management as a Service (TPMaaS)

When strategic thinking and precise execution are required – that's exactly where my service comes in.  I offer top-tier technological product management, including in-depth analysis of the competitive landscape, identification of technological threats and opportunities, and the development of a clear roadmap outlining the critical stages: from proof of concept (PoC), through MVP development, to a full-scale product.  When needed, I write user stories, collaborate closely with development teams, and conduct ongoing progress monitoring to ensure goals are met on time and with high quality.

Research and Development as a Service (R&DaaS)

If you've recently launched your business or initiative and need an R&D manager to jumpstart development from the ground up, implement effective tools and methodologies, collaborate with external contractors, or recruit technical staff, you've come to the right place. Our service can start on a small scale and expand as your needs grow. Ad'rabaLab offers flexible offshore development services, available part-time or full-time.

Programming Solutions

If your technical team requires assistance with the development of new projects or needs support during peak times, you can engage this service for an hourly fee. We offer on-site and remote support in the following programming languages:

- C / C++ for embedded systems

- JavaScript on Node.js platforms

- GO

Dockerization

If you're considering migrating your services or servers to a Docker environment to lower costs or improve security and scalability, this service is perfect for you. It includes an analysis of your current server environment and recommendations for the best approach to transitioning to a Docker setup or utilizing cloud service Lambda functions. Additionally, this service may encompass managing the DevOps aspects of the migration and establishing the new environment.

Consulting

If you need guidance or a strategy for developing a new product, software architecture, or addressing a software development challenge, this service is tailored for you. My hourly-based service has a minimum time commitment and can help you navigate and resolve those difficult issues.

Training and Coaching

If you or your team require training in the following areas, I can arrange a customized course to meet your specific needs:

- Basic Electronics (terminology, working with measuring devices such as DVM and oscilloscope)
- Embedded Systems (basic and advanced) including issue resolution and RT embedded coding
- Communication Protocols (Ethernet, SPI, I2C, UART, IP, TCP, SSL)
- Docker Environment
- Best Practices in Technical Product Management

A FEW OF OUR CLIENTS

Highlighted Projects

May 2024

SaaS for Smart Charging Management of EV Chargers

Development of SaaS software for a company specializing in vehicle charger manufacturing, designed to manage its charger fleet both locally and globally. The system features smart power management at customer sites to optimize charging capacity. Built on a Docker-based infrastructure, it ensures future scalability and robust cybersecurity, utilizing MongoDB as the database and RabbitMQ as the message broker. The design enables efficient management of thousands of chargers.

Basic Infrastructure Layer for Microcontroller

A client with foundational knowledge in microcontrollers and embedded software development sought to integrate a microcontroller into their product. To expedite the process, they entrusted the project to us. Just a few days after receiving the hardware, we developed basic board support along with a boot program, enabling the client to update the software in the future via an SPI connection to a host card. Ad'rabaLab also created software to manage two analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) and implemented a power monitoring algorithm. The project was delivered to the client complete with documentation and supporting software, empowering them to maintain and support the board independently in the future.

October 2024

16-zone gateway for SaaS alarm system.

A client requested the development of a microcontroller card designed to support a 16-zone physical sensor input alarm gateway for connection to a cloud application. Ad'rabaLab commenced the project by analyzing the requirements and drafting a comprehensive specification for both the hardware and software, including the interfaces between the cloud application and the embedded card software. Special attention was given to cybersecurity threats. The second phase involved coding the embedded card to establish a TLS 1.3 connection with the cloud application, collect data from all sensors, and execute actions as prompted by the cloud application. This project was built on the OpenSSL framework.
